The BMW XM became a favorite for tuning companies when it was launched. Many body kits have been made for this powerful SUV, the most powerful M car ever. Now, Renegade Design has revealed its special version of the XM.
You can't call the stock BMW XM a simple car. It is bold and very controversial. Some critics even said that making the first car fully developed by BMW's M division after the famous M1 in 1978 was a mistake.
Love it or hate it, the BMW XM continues to grab attention. Tuning companies like Mansory, Larte Design, and Venuum have all created their versions.
Now, Renegade Design shows off their latest body kit for the BMW XM. They first teased it in August last year. Now, they have even more details to share.
Full Carbon Fiber Makeover
Renegade Design covered almost the entire car in carbon fiber. At the front, there is a new carbon fiber splitter under the bold hexagonal radiator grille. The grille itself is also carbon fiber with a gold surround. Even the hood has a new carbon fiber cover.
The car now has wider carbon fiber fender flares, making room for large multi-spoke HRE wheels.
Carbon fiber also appears on the mirror caps, side skirts, and door sills. At the back, the rear bumper air diffuser, exhaust trims, and sporty roof spoiler are also made of carbon fiber.
Lower Stance, Same Power
Renegade Design did not say anything about changes to the suspension. But the BMW XM sits lower than the factory version, just like last summer.
The XM is BMW's first electrified M car, but Renegade Design did not touch the engine. Under the hood, it still has the strong 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This engine makes 483 horsepower (489 metric horsepower) and 480 pound-feet of torque.
An electric motor inside the high-speed ZF automatic transmission helps the V8. The motor adds 194 horsepower (197 metric horsepower) and 207 pound-feet (281 Nm) of torque. The XM has 644 horsepower (653 metric horsepower) and 590 pound-feet (800 Nm).
If it is the Label version, the power jumps to 738 horsepower (748 metric horsepower).
The standard XM can go from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 4.1 seconds. The Label version is even quicker, reaching the same speed in just 3.8 seconds.
Bold Interior and Limited Production
The cabin looks just as exciting. The inside is finished in a bright Sakhir orange color, contrasting sharply with the white exterior and carbon fiber details.
At first, Renegade Design will only make ten body kits. Depending on how popular they are, they might make more. They have not announced a price yet. But remember, the BMW XM already starts at $159,000. If you want the top Label variant, the base price jumps to $185,000 before adding the Renegade upgrades.
